The National Energy Administration (NEA) reported on the 15th that, as of the end of 2024, China's installed wind power capacity reached approximately 510 gigawatts, while solar power capacity totaled around 840 gigawatts. The utilization rate for both remained above 95%.

China's renewable energy sector has seen rapid growth, maintaining double-digit annual increases. Since 2013, installed wind power capacity has grown sixfold, averaging an annual growth rate of about 20%. Solar power capacity has surged more than 180-fold during the same period, with an average annual growth rate of 60%. China’s annual new installations now account for over 40% of the global total, providing continuous momentum for global green development.

Along with the significant expansion in capacity, China has achieved high levels of renewable energy consumption. Wind and solar power utilization rates have consistently exceeded 95%, placing the country among the global leaders. Power generation from wind and solar has steadily risen, representing a growing share of the energy mix. In 2023, the average utilization rate for wind power reached 97.3%, while solar power achieved 98%. Combined wind and solar power generation totaled 1.43 trillion kilowatt-hours—exceeding the 1.35 trillion kilowatt-hours consumed by urban and rural residents in the same year—and accounted for 15.8% of China’s total electricity consumption, surpassing the global average.

From January to July 2024, China maintained a wind power utilization rate of 96.3% and a solar power utilization rate of 97.1%. Combined wind and solar generation during this period totaled 1.0549 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 20% of total power generation. This figure surpassed the electricity consumption of China’s tertiary sector (1.0396 trillion kilowatt-hours) and urban and rural households (848.2 billion kilowatt-hours), underscoring the significant increase in the "green share" of China’s energy supply.
