Envision Energy Storage recently signed a supply contract with France's EDF Group to provide battery energy storage systems for three independent storage projects led by EDF in South Africa. The total installed capacity for these projects is 257 MW/1028 MWh, making Envision Energy Storage the first energy storage system integrator in South Africa to secure a GWh-scale order.

These projects are part of South Africa's first round of the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (BESIPPPP), with three out of the five selected bids awarded to the Oasis consortium, led by EDF and local partners. The three projects—Oasis Aggeneis, Oasis Mookodi, and Oasis Nieuwehoop—are all located in the Northern Cape Province and are expected to begin operations by the end of 2026. Envision Energy Storage will provide a full set of AC/DC storage equipment, including station SCADA and EMS systems. The DC side will feature standard 20-foot, 5 MWh storage systems, using Envision's high-security, high-performance 315Ah storage-specific battery cells. Additionally, Envision will offer 15 years of full lifecycle operation and maintenance services for the projects.

This order highlights the global competitiveness of Envision's advanced energy storage solutions. The company is a leader in large-capacity, high-density storage system technology. Envision pioneered the 20-foot, 5 MWh containerized system, which has already entered mass production, and later introduced the "AC/DC integrated" 5.6 MWh system and the 20-foot, 8 MWh container system, setting new records in both capacity and energy density for mainstream storage systems.

Gregoire de Montgolfier, Director of Renewable Energy Projects at EDF, said: "We look forward to working with our industrial partner, Envision Energy, to build this project. They were selected for their expertise in energy storage products and their ability to deliver reliable, efficient systems."
