Unveiling the Benefits of HVAC Coil Coating

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning are crucial for modern buildings. They regulate temperature and humidity levels and ensure optimal air quality. However, these systems are continuously exposed to harsh environmental conditions, potentially impacting their durability and performance.

With competitive price and timely delivery, LITONG sincerely hope to be your supplier and partner.

Fortunately, innovative solutions offered by HVAC coil coating companies, like Bethel Products, has emerged to counter this challenge. Their advanced coating solutions are revolutionizing the industry, promoting the protection and efficiency of HVAC systems like never before.

HVAC Coil Coating: A Game Changer for Efficiency and Longevity

Coil coating is a vital protective layer applied to HVAC systems. It serves a dual purpose &#; it enhances the system&#;s heat transfer capabilities while protecting it from corrosive elements. HVAC systems without coated coils tend to degrade rapidly, leading to increased maintenance costs and reduced efficiency.

By contrast, HVAC coil coating companies have devised various products to safeguard your HVAC systems. Bethel Products, for example, offers EpoxSil HVAC Coatings. These coatings are a two-part, water-based, environmentally friendly, EPA and FDA-approved solution for drinking water and food contact, along with numerous other certifications.

Impacting Heat Transfer

Coil coatings significantly enhance the heat transfer capabilities of HVAC systems. Coated coils facilitate better heat absorption and dissipation, leading to improved performance of heating and cooling systems. These features also contribute to a more energy-efficient operation, reducing electricity consumption and lowering energy bills.

Boosting Corrosion Resistance

HVAC systems are exposed to various environmental elements, making them susceptible to corrosion. Corrosion can negatively impact system efficiency, leading to costly repairs, and even necessitate premature system replacement. Coil coatings provided by HVAC coil coating companies like Bethel Products can prevent this. EpoxSil coatings contain Biocides, including SILVER, which prevent biological growth on HVAC coils and equipment, thereby increasing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and reducing coil cleaning needs.

Reduced Maintenance Requirements

Coated HVAC systems also require less maintenance compared to uncoated ones. Their enhanced corrosion resistance means fewer issues requiring repair, leading to lower maintenance costs. Moreover, the EpoxSil coating is self-etching and cleans up with water, reducing the time and effort needed for upkeep.

Hydrophilic Coating Advantages for HVAC Coils

As we continue to gather data and information on specific coating applications, we want to share with you the values found in hydrophilic coatings on heat exchangers.

Hydrophilic coatings absorb water, wetting the surface of the coil. Due to the low angle by which the water wets the fin surface, water does not conglomerate into large drops and disperses easily. Units do not have to work as hard to overcome the accumulation of moisture, reducing the performance characteristics of the coil.

A hydrophilic coating creates a polarized, high energy surface that attracts water to the surface. Continuous diffusion of water across the surface occurs, improving the surface cooling.

As the water is pulled to the surface it also creates a &#;self-cleaning&#; effect on coils. Increased air velocities show improvements, as much as 26%, compared to an uncoated surface.

Water carry-over issues are prevalent in many heat exchangers. This carry-over is the result of low adhesion of water from humid air, condensing and forming droplets on the exposed tube. Air movement at high fan velocities disperses the droplets which then carry-over into the ductwork. Corrosion occurs along with the promotion of mold and mildew growth on the damp surface.

With a typical droplet angle of < 90 degrees, the improved adhesion of condensing water vapors to the fin surface promotes the condensate to drain off the bottom of the coil. The water then collects and disposes into the drain pan, rather than blowing off the face of the coil.

Accumulated water droplets pose resistance to airflow. There is a significant effect on the capacity of the exchanger. In order to prevent the accumulation of water droplets on the surface, the friction coefficient between the droplets and the surface should be decreased. A characteristic of a hydrophilic coating is low surface tension. Water droplets slide off the surface easily by the action of reduced resistance.

Hydrophilic top coats exhibit excellent performance in providing protection against water in high temperature and salty environments. It has been determined that aluminum surfaces with a hydrophilic coating can last 3 times longer under 5% NaCl spray than bare aluminum surfaces.

  • 150 hours for bare Aluminum
  • 500 hours for hydrophilic coated Aluminum

Heat exchangers, hydrophilic top coated, will enhance the performance, extending the life cycle of the coil and unit.
